A Tale of Two Sis-tahs

It was the best of times, it was ....GREAT!

Les:  When I left for the airport to travel to Montreal, I certainly was not as nervous as I was last year.  I was looking forward to reuniting with some of the friends I had made last year and making new ones.  My only real concern was being able to actually speak to Roy this time.

Jewels:  Ditto, Sis-tah.  Knowing that KK would have the Diet Pepsi chilling and ready for our arrival put a smile of anticipation on my face!

Les:  Indeed.  ...and other drinks as well...but, I digress... We arrived on Sunday evening and met up with our Mission Leader, KK and Elke.  The first mission was dinner.  We had fun catching up and discussing our favorite topic:  Roy.

Jewels:  Sigh...yeah, Roy.

Les:  Monday afternoon, KK led us (Jul, me, Elke, Isobel and Carol) on an important mission - the details are classified.  Operations, aka Viv, will debrief you all later on that.   I do have to say that Isobel and I are lucky to be alive.  Special Operative, Carol, who had the calm, cool demeanor of Madeline, saved our Mission Leader a couple of times as well.

Jewels:  Yes, I was happy to see that you and Isobel made it out of abeyance.  I managed to pull off my valentine mission (whew! I sure have Operations fooled!).

Les:  That evening we went to Aix Cuisine du Terroir for the ‘Meet and Greet’ dinner.  I ate a French duck.

Jewels:  With many hugs and toasts and talk of Roy, it was the perfect setting for pre-Rivers fun.

Les:  Tuesday we set out early for the first day of the conference.  Everyone was ready for a fun day of adventure planned by Maxine, Michel and Roy.  We received a very nice tote bag full of goodies.  I ate French eggs.

Jewels:  Our prized Rivers possessions included an intense-looking Roy (from L’Instinct de mort) donated by Michel, two granola bars, a delectable chocolate bar, a Rivers Foundation bracelet band, water bottle, a handsome tote and an assortment of bug repellent products to protect us out in the wild!

Les:  The bus was very nicely equipped with cup holders, foot rests and barf bags.  It was difficult to keep Marcia and KK from misbehaving on the bus.  We did our best to calm them.

Jewels:  Isobel and Mary watched the Masters of Distraction with avid interest and, I believe, notes were taken.

Les:  The bus driver drove swiftly, but smoothly (no swedgies - refer to our Rivers 2008 debrief for the torrid details of this ailment) to our destination.

Jewels:  We saw two rivers, the Ouareau and the Assomption.  They were beautiful and deserve to be saved!  We also followed Michel along the treacherous path to the cave, le Trou de Fée.

Les:  After viewing the rivers, we had a short break to grab a bite and then we went to see The Timekeeper at the Technicolour Theatre.  I enjoyed the film, though it was a grim tale.

Jewels:  Grim, but amusing as well.  I enjoyed Roy’s performance.  The theatre was wonderful - a private viewing room with plush comfortable seating.

Les:  After the movie, we went out for pizza with Mary, Isobel, Carol and KK.  We had fun talking about the day’s events and were greatly anticipating meeting Roy the next afternoon!  Mary seemed calm for an RV.  I couldn’t wait to see how calm she would be in the company of Roy!

(Jewels takes a moment to savor her first time)
