The way we met Peta was *completely* by
accident. In the break between the Con & LCA we stayed in Toronto and were spending
some time visiting the various locations used in LFN. We'd decided to go up to Casa Loma to take some pictures as they've used it in filming quite a few times. We'd been there about 5 minutes and taken one picture of Casa Loma when we spotted the orange cones (or pylons you might call them) ... a sure sign there's a film crew in the area :-) And sure enough it was LFN -- how lucky could we be! We couldn't actually see them filming because they weren't filming outdoors, they were using the tunnels under the stables. So from a safe distance (we were conscious that we didn't want to be getting in anyone's way -- after all they're just doing their job) in a little side street opposite the stables entrance we watched all the goings on, people going backwards and forwards for an hour (or two!), and got talking to the security guard at Casa Loma who came over for a chat because someone had told him we were English .... and so was he so he want to come and talk to us and find out where we were all from! Elle from Germany had managed to get talking to a couple of the crew because she actually wanted to get in and see the stables as a tourist and she wanted to know how long they were going to be filming to decide whether she should hang on or not. One of them (who it turned out was Mark the Assistant Director) had said he'd speak to Peta and see if she was up for coming and having her photo taken. A while later, Peta came out with Mark and was having her photo taken with Elle when all the drivers we'd been talking to came over and told us to go over and join them ... being typically British we didn't want to intrude but they just told us to get our butts over there pronto .... LOL! As we got over there, Susan2, Tiff & Doc also joined us from where they'd been chatting to a couple of the crew by the gates to the stable area. Peta shook each of our hands in turn, saying "Hi, I'm Peta". <G>. Peta was *so* nice, we chatted to her for about 20 minutes. We talked about loads of things -- lots of girly chat <g>. Barb asked her how Nana was and Peta told us that she'd punctured a kidney with a rib when she fell over going to make a cup of tea, but that Nana was strong so she'll be up and about in no time. She's cut her hair quite short and it looks great, it's about shoulder length with a lot of layers - apparently she comes all the way over to London to get it cut because she said it's the only place she can get it cut well. We didn't ask her which hairdresser she uses, but our money is on Nickie Clarke :-) She told us about when she went to the fashion shows in New York and she'd just turned up in her jeans with no make-up and they were more like film premiers with stars everywhere. And also that she'd tried on pair of designer jeans and ripped them ...LOL!! Can't remember which designer though :-) She told us a few things about the upcoming season, which I won't say anything here about incase people don't want to be spoiled, but she did say that in the first 3 eps that Nikita was *really* *really* bad ..... and she looked very pleased about that <G>! She wanted to tell us stuff about the first ep, but we wouldn't let her cause we didn't want to know ...LOL!! She was also enthusiatically telling us about her new apt (or box as she called it) that she's just bought in New York that she's really looking forward to working on and decorating herself. Apparently she's an expert tiler, having learned at 15 when she was working on a building site :-) Peta was offered the lead in The X-Men movie, but since she didn't want to lose the LFN crew, which would have happened had they put filming back, she turned it down. Moira decided to mention to Peta & Mark something that had been bugging her all day (and had provided us with a bit of a laugh) and that was the writing on the back windscreen of all the cars, instead of "LA Femme Nikita" they all said "LE Femme Nikita". Moira asked whether it was an in joke or something, or was it just a mistake. Peta & Mark couldn't believe it, they'd never noticed! And on the Friday evening when we got to meet Roy we noticed that they'd all been altered by cutting out the middle of the "e" and sticking it on the bottom to make an "a". One of the drivers said they'd changed them all that morning and that apparently some of them had been that way for 3 years and no-one had ever noticed! She's just like she is on chat shows, full of energy. At one point she turned and whispered something to Mark and then turned back to us to say she'd had the ok and would like to invite us down onto the closed set to watch a scene being filmed -- WOW!!! Mark told us that it wouldn't be for about an hour or so, so we went off to get some coffee and a bite to eat, well it was nearly 4pm and we'd been there since 11.30am, although it didn't feel like we'd been there that long. It was so cool. We all traipsed down to the set which was in the basement of the stables and Jon Cassar joked to everyone else on set that we were all Peta's sisters ...LOL!! It was pretty cool watching a scene being filmed and what probably took ages to set up will be over in the blink of an eye on TV. We also saw a blooper in the making, because Peta is supposed to walk out the room at the end of the sequence, but when she gets to the door, someone had locked it ..LOL!! Jon Cassar was being really nice turning round to make conversation with us, but cause we'd all been told by Mark to be quiet when we downstairs all we did was smile and nod our heads .... LOL!! Well you never know Maddy or the Torture Twins might have been lurking in a dark corner and it wouldn't do to misbehave. Once they'd finished filming Peta came over and shook all our hands again and thanked *us*, we said no "Thank you for inviting us here." She then said if you want a photo better take it now as they were all then off to block another scene somewhere in the tunnels. So Susan did the honours and took the photo of all of us with Peta. Most of the crew then disappeared off down the tunnels and we hung back to allow the crew that was left to finish moving stuff around before we tried to get out so as not to get in their way. We then left Casa Loma (stopping briefly for a picture outside Peta's trailer) and went off to see the CN Tower and to scare a few waiters in Planet Hollywood <g>! |
