A very special woman to Roy: Last November 23, Roy and his family celebrated the birthday of a very special woman in his life: his aunt grandmother Mimi, who turned 103 years old. She gave me my first bike. She's very intelligent, has sense of humour and is the matriarch of the family.

Michaels hidden past: Little by little we will find out Michaels secrets, Nikita's mentor, who has a hidden past that explains the way he behaves. He s a tormented man who lost his wife and son. Like Nikita, his wife also worked as an operative and was engaged in a mission Michael supervised when she disappeared. She didn't die, but during two years she was held hostage and was tortured. We will see in one of the episodes that Nikita finds her, but Michaels wife is not what she used to be like. She only seeks revenge on the man that tortured her. In the end she gets her captor and both die without anything Michael can do about it. (Note: Spain is now in season 2, so Simone was actually aired last year, although the writer of the article describes it in present tense).

We discovered the most tender face of Roy Dupuis, Nikita's boss.

Roy Dupuis, the French Canadian actor who brings to life Nikita's cold mentor, shows himself, as opposed to his character, as a man with sensibility on the surface (note: I don't know exactly the phrase for this, it means that he's a very sensitive man in contact with his sensitivity). His passion: the stars. His dream: to shelter himself with his girlfriend in an 1840 farmhouse he bought in Montreal.

This coming April 21 he turns 36, but he looks even younger. Its because of his smile. Unlike Nikita's mentor Michael's cold stare and inexpressive face, Roy Dupuis speaks displaying a great sense of humour and uncompared warmness and freshness. Everyone who knows him describes him as a charming man. If I compare Michael to the rest of the mortals, I see him as a kind of ghost. He has no feelings, he really doesn't care about anything or anyone. He's a tormented man. I'm far away from his coldness. But I portray him with my sensibility, Roy confesses when asked about his common ground with Nikita's boss, while he talks in English keeping his mother tongue accent, French.

Roy was born in Ontario, where he spent part of his childhood with his brother Roderick and his sister Roxanne. At school he excelled in sports: hockey, athletics, basketball and volleyball. Later, his parents moved to Montreal, and he started his physics course at Montreal university. He had always wanted to be a scientist to know the secrets of the universe until the movie Moliere stepped into his life, completely breaking his plans to the point of making him exchange his physics and chemistry books for theatre, and the sky for the stage. Even though the stars are still his passion. I can spend hours talking about philosophy and how the universe works, Roy tells, explaining that this is his main hobby when he spends his weekends in the 1840 farmhouse he bought in Montreal. I had been looking for a house like this for six years. It has the power to bring me back to reality, makes me feel that I have a piece of the planet just for me. And there I love to enjoy the stars, wind, weather and all those things. I'm a bit weird on that, like Michael, he adds, and does not stop thinking all the rebuilding needed to be done on his farmhouse to convert it to an ecological house with the latest techniques: I think about this house as an artist would do. I think about the materials to be used, the colors I want ...

But, who does Roy share his spare time with? Well, with my girlfriend. I devote all my spare time to her, because I have not been coming here often lately. Also with my friends, who come visit once in a while, Roy replies, who after working more than twelve hours a week shooting the episodes of the show in Toronto I think I only live on weekends, he says. First thing he does when he finishes shooting is taking a plane to go home in Montreal and shelters himself with his girlfriend there. He assures us that he is not into partying: Id rather stay at home cooking dinner for my friends.

With wine?

No. I haven't tasted wine in two years. I gave up thirsting for lucidity.

Are you a loner?

A bit. I don't have many friends, but I have two good ones. I have changed a lot in these two years since I stopped drinking and partying. Now, the little time I am by myself I spend it on the many things I have to do and think of. I dont feel bored, I have a computer and Internet ... I spend time surfing on astronomy and astrophysics. I seek answers to any question I come up with. Other times I just chat with people about anything.

Roy confesses that feeling observed makes him a very shy man, and he explains that for the past seven years, that is, since he became more popular, exactly for that, its not easy for him to make new friends. People believe I am like my character, so I tend to go with the people I used to hang out with before, explains the actor who is not influenced by passion when talking about marriage.

Why is it that you don't believe in marriage?

Marriage comes from religion and allows you to make love before Gods eyes. Today it has become a political and economical contract and I don't feel the need for a relationship to depend upon a piece of paper. I don't believe in marriage, love is my contract. I don't need to promote my relationship to an economical or legal level. It is about a contract between my love and myself. Why do people get married? Because of safety, to put love in a box and say Fine. How can you tell someone At present, I love you forever? It is a lie in itself. You don't know what is going to happen to you in ten years. It is the same as to say, today I die, I will not change ever again.
