For Charles Binamé’s new film, inspired by Claude-Henri Grignon’s celebrated novel, new faces will join those that made the characters of Un homme et son péché (One Man’s Sin) famous. From September several stars will breathe new life into Séraphin, Donalda, old Laloge, Father Labelle, and Alexis Labranche, whose names still resound in the hearts of the public.

Serialized on radio with Hector Charland in the role of Séraphin Poudrier, Un homme et son péché became the series Les Belles Histoires des Pays-d’en-Haut (Tales of the Highlands), a unique phenomenon in Quebecois television drama. Charland has also played the detestable character on film. Now Charles Binamé is about to shoot his interpretation of the miser’s story in a feature film.

It was known that Pierre Lebeau was expected to play the principal role, and we learned this week that Karine Vanasse was going to be his Donalda, and that the handsome Alexis was to be played by Roy Dupuis. Benoit Brière will be the beggarly Jambe de Bois, Rémy Girard old Laloge, and Robert Brouillette his son Bidou. Naturally no-one can wait to see how the new actors will dust off and revive these classic characters who seem to be ready to cross the years.
