Roy Dupuis dreams about sailing round the world. Roy Dupuis will next play the last lover of Monica la mitraille in the film of the same name, a 7 million dollar feature which will be directed by Pierre Houle. So he will be acting alongside his girlfriend Céline Bonnier who is playing Monica. On the 3rd September Roy will also start shooting a new film, Manners of Dying, inspired by a Yann Martel short story. Filming will be in English, but it’s a Quebec production. He plays the final 12 hours in the life of a condemned man .
Roy, since the end of Nikita, have you been offered other roles in English language series? Yes, but I don’t feel like doing that at the moment. I’m much more interested in auteur films: and I want to travel. Five and a half years is a long time. Not that I didn’t enjoy the experience, because once I was down there (in Toronto) it was fine, but for various reasons I needed to come back here every weekend. << we’ll just quietly note the inaccuracy, rather than start a search for the missing LFN season!? - viv >>
Have you ever thought about writing a script? I have plans, but they’re mostly documentaries I would like to direct. At the moment they’re on ice. Direction is the obvious way for me; I directed one episode of Nikita and I enjoyed it.
Have you had time to take a holiday this summer or to finish working on the house? As far as the work is concerned I took a break this year because I started sailing; I’m learning navigation. I spent the summer mostly sailing and I get along well. It’s very exhilarating. I’m thinking about taking off one day, for at least one and a half to two years, and going round the world.
Have you planned the trip yet? No, I still haven’t set a date. We’ll see. But it won’t be too long either. |
