This was the first broadcast of
a new series on Canadian TV channel ARTV called 'Garage Sale' which combines
recycling with art. Each week the 'go-between', actor Emmanuel Bilodeau, goes to
a celebrity's home to collect a useless, unwanted object, which is then
transformed by an artist into a work of art and sold for charity. Roy's object was a battered
ukelele from Latin America. The artist in this case is jeweller
Sylvie
Lupien.
Proceeds from the sale of all the items at the end of the
series are to go to the Rivers Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society.
