| Michael's POV Onscreen:
18 minutes |
When both Sections and
Red Cells substations are destroyed simultaneously, it appears that some external
agent is responsible. Operations calls for a 48 hour truce, exchanging non-expendable key
operatives, and brilliant young Satin is traded for Madeline. Satin obviously has the hots
for Michael. When delivering her report, she produces a crumpled photo of him that she has
carried with her for years as her inspiration. She reminds him of his past when he fought
with René Dion (see Half Life), and tries to turn him by appealing to his old
values. Satin suggests that the culprit is a random. Equipped with insufficient data
because of the urgency, Michael leads the assault and it indeed turns out to be a
geeky games player after all. Michael gives Satin a password ("for René") to
access secure data. Using this access Satin sends encrypted Section co-ordinates to Red
Cell, but it is in fact a self destruct program which blows up Red Cells base. |

I would venture that Satin
isnt the only female who carries a photo of Michael around with her for inspiration,
so as far as recent LFN episodes go, this one has a head start on credibility. Roys
part begins in the wings, but moves centre-stage as his loyalty is tested. He stuck with
Section in season 2 (Half Life) but after all the ordeals of seasons 3 and 4, will
he turn? Of course not only the black-and-white Nikita imagines that he would, and
he characteristically doesnt even deign to answer her. The first episode written by
a woman since Naomi Janzen way back in season 1 (Friend, Mother, Missing), this is
a nice little opportunity for Roy to demonstrate what Michael does best which is to
win class prize for Perfect Operative. |
