Michael's POV

Onscreen:
12 minutes

Having only just got free of his nemesis Hillinger (Line in the Sand), Birkoff creates an artificial one in the form of an electronic understudy. e-Birky’s baser instincts are very much focused on Nikita, and as it begins to take control of all of Section’s systems Michael succeeds in disabling it by cutting off its power supply. A temporary reprieve, as it then attempts to blow up Section. Birkoff makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to destroy his virtual id, and Michael gets to deliver his most overworked Season 4 line, "It’s over". He offers Nikita consolation, but she’s not interested.

Performance Rating
Let’s hope Roy isn’t paid by the word. With virtually nothing to say, he spends most of his time looking thoughtful, and characteristically cool and elegant on the scary ledge. He doesn’t even appear to get jealous when the Small Green Head fantasises about his woman. No doubt Mr Turner filmed plenty of footage of Roy’s response to Birkoff’s death, but in comparison with the rest of the cast’s expressions of anguish, it may have looked a little unenthusiastic. In no way a bad performance, just not much of a stretch.
