| Michael's POV Onscreen:
30 minutes |
Michael is spending his
downtime covertly watching his son Adam playing hockey. He observes that Elena has a new
man in her life and Adam a surrogate Daddy. Worse still, it turns out to be cynical
Valentine op Corliss, and Michael realises that Section is using his family as bait to
flush out Elenas uncle. Stephan Vacek announces that he will kill Elena and Adam
personally, but when Section botches his capture Michael swings into action. Creeping
around their house at night he discovers a bomb and goes after Vacek, who is killed in
crossfire by Corliss. Michael rushes back to the house but Elena and Adam have been
whisked away by Section, out of his life for good. |

Plenty of opportunity for Roy
to exercise Michaels emotional range. He gets mad at Section on a number of counts,
particularly their inability to protect his family, and for once Nikita isnt the
cause of his jealousy. In the face of Corliss crass insensitivity most actors would
have their characters boil over. Roy keeps Michael glacial and Corliss dies unforgiven.
But the novel situation for Roy is to have Michael slip stealthily round the intimate
domesticity of his familys home, accidentally eavesdropping on their personal
memories of him. Very un-Section-like, very delicately done. |
