| Michael's POV Onscreen:
10 minutes |
This storyline revolves
around Madeline and the rather charming Leon, Red Cells chief strategist and her
long time adversary. Michael just performs a few odd jobs. Madelines
obsessive search for Leon ends in success when he is pulled in and his identity is
confirmed. Her new interrogation aids are lipstick, a girlish giggle and a brain operation
to make her flirting infallibly convincing. After some mutual seduction Madeline proves
her feeling for Leon by shooting Operations and escaping with the enemy. When they are
tracked down Operations wings Madeline and shoots Leon through the heart. Michaels
contributions are :
- he intercepts the gene-coded transmission that confirms Leons
identity
- he checks out one of Leons tip-offs (and sends his team
straight into an acid bath trap)
- he snitches to Operations about Madelines brain operation,
but he already knows
- he tracks down the runaways and joins the embarrassed onlookers as
Madeline goes to pieces

Nothing much of note, except
that René Bonniere treats us to some more nice close-ups |

Performance Rating
 |
The errand-boy role in
Albertas showcase leaves Roy with very little scope to do much of note. The high
point of the episode is his exceptionally long sentence about a woman in love (see Words,
and note the intake of breath), which seems to stun Operations into silence as much as
it does us. When did he last say that big a mouthful? However, soon afterwards, when
Nikita tries to engage him in a conversation about the meaning of love ("Is that all
love is, Michael, synapses in the brain?"), Michael has exhausted his thoughts on the
subject and gives us a more characteristic, "Ah dunno." Thats our Mikey. A
competent performance in a desert of opportunities. |
