| Michael's POV Onscreen:
11 minutes |
Michael leads a mission to
retrieve a computer program in Antwerp, but before they get there the target is hit by an
apparently innocent delivery man. George sends Jerome, a supernaturally endowed young boy
from Section 4 to help find the missing package. Michael has to intervene when Jerome
begins to exert malevolent power on Madeline who is treating him as a hostile.
Jeromes skills help locate and break an informer so he is sent with Michael and
Nikita on the recovery mission. He runs off when he sees some schoolchildren, demanding to
be allowed to go home. When he makes reference to Michaels son, Michael slings him
across his back and dumps him in the van. Jeromes childish tantrums continue with
him overturning the van, injuring Nikita but leaving Michael unscathed. The package is
eventually retrieved, though Michael is peripheral to the rest of the story. |

Following immediately after Down
a Crooked Path, this further sci-fi theme failed to resonate with many fans. However,
out of the continuity chaos that is LFN, Roy chose to relate this little boy to the other
one in the series, his son Adam last seen 29 episodes previously. In the beginning Michael
has a mental arm-wrestling contest with the one person who might be able to see into his
soul, but when Jerome gets petulant in the playground his parental authority is needed
once again. However freakish Jerome might be, the facial expression that Roy gives to
Michael as Jerome is escorted out of Section is one of paternal compassion for another
fatherless little boy. Nice moments. |
