Writer/Director Peter M Lenkov / Joel Surnow
Michael's POV

Onscreen:
11 minutes

Jan, a rare female baddie, is reluctantly recruited by Section, but on her first mission commits suicide in spectacular fashion. Shy, terminally ill Sarah, who is Jan’s double, is recruited to complete the work. On her first mission she panics and Michael has to rescue her. Madeline orders him to chat with Sarah to make her feel more comfortable with men, and she quizzes him about his love-life. Prompted by Nikita, Michael discovers that Sarah was being monitored for suitability before Jan’s death, but assures her that this is not grounds to believe that Section induced the illness.
Michael Moments Michael’s smiling acknowledgement that shy Sarah has taken control of their conversation
When persuaded by Sarah to talk about the woman he loves, that intake of breath before he says "I’ll tell you about her."
Words of Wisdom "It’s best if you don’t mention Section One."
"What is it about me that scares you?"
"We’re not here ….. to talk about me."
"Okay …. (inhale)…. I’ll tell you about her."
"Sometimes we begin contingency before a situation goes critical."
Performance Rating
A good, tightly written episode. Not a lot of Roy time but he does well with the few chances he gets, creating one of the series’ best ever non-romantic quiet scenes – the conversation with Sarah. Roy shows us Michael’s enjoyment in being teased by Sarah, as he watches her grow in confidence. Genuinely smiling Michael is a rare enough occurrence, particularly in this the 3rd season, so hats off to Joel for this little treat!
