After the rigours of the
opening arc, this is a quiet episode for Roy, but he still manages to show us a flash of
much-needed, and, since Season 1, much-missed Michael-type humour when advising Birkoff on
how to deal with a homicidal colleague. His timing is perfect, keeping Birkoff waiting in
suspense just long enough, before hitting him with the blindingly logical response. It is
also good to see a reappearance of the perfectly mannered Michael in negotiation with
Chernov, beautifully filmed in an ethereal church setting, with director Brad Turner
seemingly inheriting René Bonnieres fondness for stunning close-ups. |
