Michael's POV

Onscreen:
17 minutes

Michael leads a mission to capture Brutus, a terrorist mastermind, only to discover that ‘he’ is in fact a super-intelligent computer. Michael is given temporary command of Section whilst Operations and Madeline carry out their own secret mission (in the Tower). Outwitting all of Section’s best minds, Brutus causes a major security alert, but Michael decides not to recall Operations and to handle it himself. He tries instead to mobilise Nikita, who has been outwitted by a family of petty thieves in Albania. On his return Operations is furious that Michael did not call for help, and threatens to report his error of judgement. Michael responds by threatening to advise Oversight about Operations’ and Madeline’s tryst. Outmanoeuvred, Operations agrees to ‘overlook’ Michael’s mistake.

Performance Rating
One of the best tags ever with the confrontation between Operations and Michael, Roy and Gene Glazer showing that well-scripted writing allows actors to use both verbal and non-verbal methods of depicting two men calmly but determinedly vying for top dog position. The acting equivalent of a heavyweight fight, with audiences everywhere rooting for Michael. The obvious enjoyment of both actors reveling in a great script comes across.
