Michael meets with a known
terrorist, Enquist, to obtain a consignment of Semtex. At the meeting Enquist ups his
price. Later, back at Section, Michael tries to make peace with Nikita, inviting her out
to dinner, but they are interrupted by Operations. Michael is sent again to deal with
Enquist but discovers that the meeting is a trap. Assuming that Section has been breached,
Michael adopts mandatory refusal mode, ignoring all commands from them and
instead sticking only to his original orders. He does not know that Madeline has been
kidnapped and if he carries out those orders, Madeline will be killed. Operations orders
other operatives to take out Michael, killing him if necessary. Michael tracks Enquist
down to where he is holding Madeline hostage, but the situation is saved by Nikita. Later
Michael rejects Nikita, revealing that she has become too important to him to allow him to
operate successfully within Section. |

Curious episode this one. Roy
looks very tired throughout, his face is puffy, and the voice is muted, even for Michael.
Even the chance to act with one of his Quebecois friends, Gregory Hlady (Enquist)
cant seem to inspire him to cast off the lethargy. There is a nice, and very
obvious, chemistry between the two of them though. Interesting use of fashion symbolism at
the close of the episode: Nikita, Michaels guardian angel in white, the fallen angel
Michael in his usual black. |
