When Operations is shot by a
rogue Section operative, Petrosian is brought in to take his place. He makes Nikita his
second-in-command, and treats Michael as very much her inferior, as he did in Rescue.
Nikita even endangers Michaels life to ensure success of the library mission, which
impresses Petrosian but not Michael. Nikita becomes Petrosians personal spy within
Section, and as a reward he engineers a date for her with Michael and a promise of an
opportunity to have a full life. Michael, however, rejects Nikitas advances. Miss
Popular smugly accuses him of being resentful that she now has more power than he does, to
which Michael replies with a convincing No . |

Roy gets to echo Michaels
new role, that is, he plays support to the leading female. In what is essentially a Peta
Wilson episode, Roy still manages to steal the odd scene or two. In the confrontation in
the bar, its not Petas portrayal of an ego-boosted Nikita that catches the
eye, its Roys underplaying of Michaels reaction to her boasts and
taunts. He resists the temptation to be showy with his sparse lines of
dialogue, finding a facial expression of faint disgust instead, and once again proves to
be the performer to watch. |
