Whilst on a mission we see a
rare moment of self-indulgence by Michael, when he insists on finishing his dance with
Nikita even though their target objective has been attained. Later, on another mission,
Nikitas compassionate refusal to kill an innocent, means that she defies
Michaels, and Sections orders. At her apartment Michael arrives just in time
to prevent her killing herself, but he tells her that he cant protect her anymore.
On his return to Section Michael is horrified to realise that Nikita has been placed in
abeyance and will die on her next mission, a mission to be led by himself. Michael breaks
every rule in the Section book by alerting Nikita to this, and giving her an escape
opportunity, which she takes. Michael, however, is left in the position of not knowing
whether she did escape or has died. |

Continuing with the theme of
Michael realising his world is no longer self-contained, Roy has now totally won the
audience over to Michael. Even if Section are not prepared to endorse his new beliefs, the
audience are finally cheering for Mr Blank Stare as romantic hero. Roy has taken Michael,
the show, and the audience on a journey of discovery from Episode 1 to the season finale.
