| Michael's POV Onscreen:
22 minutes |
Section are forced to evacuate
to a top secret substation after Red Cell break the code to the Directory, and Michael
surprisingly tells Nikita its location. During their search for Red Cell, Michael and
Nikita are captured. After a brutal torture session, Michael surprises Nikita again by
confessing that his feelings for her kept him from breaking. However the Inquisitor
realises the strength of Nikitas feelings for Michael, and threatens him until she
gives up the location. Michael miraculously recovers and they are able to
escape, when Nikita learns that she has been manipulated into leading Red Cell into a
trap. She is disgusted with him, but back in the MedLab as she lies unconscious, he
reveals that parts of what he had said to her were true. In an unprecedented display of
public affection inside Section, he gives Nikita a first "real" kiss, not caring
that Section eyes and cameras could be watching. Michael has finally admitted to himself
that Nikita is not just another operative, but holds the key to his heart. |

Performance Rating
 |
This is one of Roys
finest episodes and he gives us an outstanding performance as the great hero and flawed
human being at the same time. He plays a wounded, injured character with such realism that
you hurt for him, his vulnerability appealing to the heroine and viewers alike. When this
heroic knights armour turns out to be tarnished with deceit, Nikitas rant at
Michael is reminiscent of Emilies constant scolding of Ovila. But Roys
characters always manage to remain sympathetic despite their failings, and as he looks
miserable and ashamed we are only too ready to forgive him. At the close of the series Roy
singled out this episode as the one containing his favourite moments, and that
probably applies to most of the fans too. |
