| Michael's POV Onscreen:
11 minutes |
After an aborted mission to
engage Tossi, Nikita returns to Section late, claiming to have survived a rape attempt,
and Michael questions her closely. Later, posing as a couple with a baby in a pram, they
surprise him and his bodyguard as he is jogging in the park. With Tossis help they
lay a trap for the end game, Elder, only to have it ruined by the policeman who is trying
to charge the rapist. Michael is as angry with Nikita as everyone else. Elder is finally
taken in a night raid and the policeman, OBrien, is brought into Section. Once again
we hear Michaels welcoming speech (cf. Nikita), this time delivered a lot
less sympathetically. |

Although another short episode
for Roy, there are several interesting touches. Spotlight on a harsh world, where failed
rapists might expect to die, tough cops can be reduced to quivering wrecks , CIA agents
are disappeared, strolling parents turn attackers. Even the humorous touch
with the guard is funny only because its so cruel. Roy plays Michael detached and
ruthless throughout. Contrast, however, the business with Madeline and the tie, as she
brushes his shoulders and fixes the knot. As she first lays his hands on him he looks down
at them, momentarily taken aback by the physical contact, before regaining his composure.
Its his expression, more than her actions, that suggests some emotional past between
them
an example of how a couple of seconds of Roys acting can convey an
entire history. |
