| Michael's POV Onscreen:
26 minutes |
During a mission Michael is
wounded and left behind as the rest of the team make their escape. While back at Section
Nikita is arguing that rescuing him should be their priority, Michael struggles to
survive. He abducts a nurse, an older woman called Angie, who despite her initial fear,
comes to fall in love with Michael. Over the next 24 hours Michael learns more about
Angies life and what motivated her to help him. He persuades her to return with him
to Section, with the promise of a new freer life for her. Through a piece of criminally
unimaginative writing, Michael gives away his presence (memo to Michael: go easy on the
orange juice and always leave the seat down). With the head of the secret police,
Petrosian, in hot pursuit, Michael and Angie manage to rendezvous with Sections
rescue team. They are ambushed at the point of rescue by Petrosians men, leading to
Angie making a final sacrifice so that Michael may be free. |

Performance Rating
 |
From his contribution to what
is acknowledged by all fans to be the best opening scene across all five seasons to
Angies epitaph at the end, Roy turns out a tremendous physical and emotional
performance in several previously unseen situations. Bloody, battle-scarred and
bare-chested, he pleads with Angie for help. Later we see the first indications of empathy
with an outsider, as he comes to respect and admire Angies courage. The final public
put-down by Petrosian is so undeserved even Operations blushes. So Michael gets to stay in
character but explore new traits at the same time. If you can watch this episode and not
be hooked by Roys magnetic screen presence, you need medical treatment. |
