Michael's POV

Onscreen:
13 minutes

The episode opens with a rare sight of Michael engaging in workplace banter with a colleague, the soon-to-be late lamented Chuck. When Nikita is undercover in the Wickes’ household, Michael is forced by Operations to face up to the fact that, for the sake of the mission, Nikita may have to be sacrificed, while Madeline also tells him to prepare himself for this eventuality. Michael then goes undercover as a policeman, kidnapping Nikita and her ‘mother.’ In a ruse to force Nikita’s ‘mother’ to confess, Michael orders Nikita to be beaten up. Later, Michael visits Nikita in the MediLab to check up on her and to apologise for what he had to do.
Michael Moments Taking the insults about his hairstyle from Chuck without cancelling him.
His undercover role as Detective Lewis - who wouldn’t want to be arrested by this man?!
Looking away as Nikita is beaten up.
Caressing Nikita’s eyebrow whilst she’s in the MediLab.
Words of Wisdom "Chuck …….. Chuck, are you there?"
"I'm sorry it had to come to that."
Performance Rating
Here Roy gets to play the Tom Cruise part in one of early LFN’s many rip-offs from Mission Impossible. Powerless to prevent their friend being killed, they have practically identical lines … "Jack …. Jack, do you copy?" but the sorrow in Michael’s voice is much more moving. Roy then jumps into the role of Detective Lewis, and carries off the illusion of the difficulty of breaking bad news to perfection (or maybe it’s his embarrassment at having to wear the famous Ugly Tie). Back in ‘true’ character, he shows us, very subtly, an insight into Michael’s realisation that Nikita is becoming important to him.
