It is set in Quebec City during the Second World War and told the story of Marie Rousseau, a young widow who has to raise her three children, Émile, Colette and Michel alone. She lives with her alcoholic brother who is in love with the maid and with her brother-in-law who has secretly been in love with her for the last ten years.
In this episode Roy plays a national security officer who arrests a man in the night.
