Synopsis

Since the onset of global warming (the film is set in 2017), underground stores of black truffles are growing all over the popular district of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
Alice and Charles Tremblay (Céline and Roy), owners of a diner, try to make ends meet by taking advantage of this new-found gold rush. For a time the locals are delighted with their new wealth, but what they don't know is that a disturbing company of mysterious origins has set up their head office in the neighbourhood. Their objective: to control the global production of black truffles...
Truffe delves into one of the facets of our society - overconsumption.

Verdict?
Film buffs appreciate the craftsmanship behind this kitsch, tongue-in-cheek, multi-genre homage to '50s B movies, but think the plot is too slight to justify a 75 minute run time.
Those who don't 'get it' really don't get it.
