Momentum have a unique way of raising funds,
they have a system of bartering - you can buy a thing they call an
Action Momentum (the name's trade-marked). It costs $5 CAN, and you
can buy as many as you want. You can trade in your Actions Momentum for an
Action Performative, which is supplied by one of the brokers (members of
the Momentum group incl. Céline). They've done this in response to a
government directive that cultural organisations turn towards the private
sector for part of their funding.
So, what's on offer? A long list of Actions Performatives, a selection of
which we'll list here, along with the price in AMs.
Category 1: Telephone
14AMs - they'll record a message for your answering machine
10AMs - they'll phone a person of your choice on their birthday
30AMs - They'll sit in silence on the phone while you talk non-stop for an
hour
60AMs - they'll conduct an erotic phonecall with you (new!)
10AMs - they'll give you a wake-up call
15AMs - they'll sing a song or recite a poem over the phone
etc. etc.
Category 2 : Written
20AMs - they'll chart your horoscope
20AMs - they'll send you an original photo of one of the brokers
50AMs - they'll conduct a personal correspondence with you for a month
(new!)
30AMs - they'll send you a postcard from their next tour
100AMs - they'll send you something belonging to one of the brokers
200AMs - they'll give you a CD with a song specially composed and sung for
you
etc. etc.
Catergory 3 : accompanied by a broker!!
70AMs - they'll take you to tea at the Ritz Carlton
80AMs - they'll take you on a tour of Montreal (on foot or by car)
400AMs - they'll accompany you to the Gala des Masques (new!)
100AMs - they'll make breakfast pancakes in your kitchen
2000AMs - they'll kidnap you for the evening
60AMS - they'll name a character after you in their next show (new!)
200AMs - they'll perform a scene from a play in your living room
60AMs - they'll give you 9 goldfish named after each of the 9 brokers
100AMs - they'll watch a film with you in your living room
etc. etc.
It then says "Create your own Action Performative and see how far we're
prepared to go!"
The small print specifies conditions like not all the brokers perform
every Action, and expenses are charged for Actions performed more than
40Km from Montreal. |
